11th National Deafblind Conference, 30 June – 1 July 2022
The 11th National Deafblind Conference (Australia), the first national
deafblind conference in six years, will bring together individuals and
organisations working to ensure that deafblind people are included in service
delivery and design, decision making processes, advocacy, research and
meaningful community involvement. To achieve this, the conference theme will
be streamed into the following areas:
• Deafblind communication: Face-to-face and using technology
• Innovations in service delivery
• COVID-19: Impacts and solutions
• Deafblind led awareness raising, peer support and advocacy
• Other
The conference will have a mix of keynote presentations, panel discussions and
workshops covering a broad range of topics related to the themes. The
pre-conference will provide an additional opportunity to bring together people
in special interest areas for example Usher Syndrome and CHARGE syndrome. The
conference will be a hybrid event – hosted online simultaneously with a face to
face event in Perth, Western Australia.
The pre-conference (Wednesday 29th June, 2022) and main conference (Thursday
30th of June to Friday 1st of July) will both start at 9am and conclude at 5pm.
