Wayne,
As a long-time SL66 & Rolleiflex TLR user and brief owner of a predecessor
model to the Mamiya C220/330, I think the SL66 is somewhat less bulky than the
Mamiya system. There are those that would consider both the SL66 and Mamiya
system to be only studio cameras.
But, I think the SL66 is quite versatile even as a hand-held field camera and I
have always been amazed how sharp my hand-held pictures with the 80mm Planar
are, even at shutter speeds as low as 1/30. Rollei Master Fritz Henle used the
Sl66 in later years and he rarely used a tripod in most of his people and
landscape photography.
There is also a lot of similarity between SL66 and the Mamiya TLR in that they
both use a bellows focussing system that allows for close-ups without any extra
equipment/lenses, but I would definitely prefer the SL66 if I have to carry 3
lenses (usually 50,80 & 250mm) and intend to do some macro work. The SL66
lenses are fairly lightweight as they contain no focusing helicoid.

Owning and using a Mamiya C220 is what caused me to consider and buy the
Tele-Rollei. While the Tele is definitely less convenient than the 2.8, it is
a whole lot more convenient than the Mamiya. I read that information on
Rollei’s consideration of an interchangeable lens TLR. If it would have meant
a larger or heavier camera, it was probably, in my opinion, the right
decision to not go throught with it.
How does the SL66 compare with the Mamiya C220/330, when it comes to
handling.? Is the SL66 any less bulky than the Mamiya Camera?
