There is a whole new generation of springs for the SL66. There is a cam that over time becomes somewhat rough. You can tell when going from 1/30 to 1/15. That usually needs to be replaced. The contacts for flash work constantly foul. As old they are, cleaning them rarely works for long, so the whole bank, x and fp, usually needs replacing. If the focusing has a rough spot or area, it usually means it has impact damage. Otherwise, they are still good to use. I've yet to let mine go after 30 years, digital or not.
