I would have to take the hood off my pre-war model to look at
it again because I don't know how its fastened. But it sounds
like something that could be cut from spring material and even
cemented into place. I certainly would not discard an entire
camera because of one small part. Someone else may have a better
idea.

couple instances where this top clip has broken off. Is this sort of damage
repairable?, or, does that pretty much consign that particular camera to the
parts bin. In one instance, it was a pretty nice camera with only that one
