I have a PQS lens. Yet I find that I use it far less than I thought I would. On the other hand, I tend to shoot as wide open as possible, handheld and on a tripod, whenever I have a chance.

Just a silly question;

If one had a choice between an 80mm Xenotar with a PQ shutter and an
80mm Planar with a PQS shutter, which one would be preferable?

I can't help with the Xenotar/Planar matter, but I do have two Planars
with PQ and PQS shutters, so I'll chime in on this aspect of your
question. I very rarely need the 1,000 sec. shutter speed, and could
probably get by with a ND filter for the majority of those few situations
that require it.
