Zoom lenses quality for still photography is continously improving from about 35 years ago, multilayer lens coating, new glasses, floating and aspherical elements are making possible today that some high quality zoom lenses for film and digital cameras show a similar performance regarding prime lenses for every focal length. The following two photographs were taken from the exact same point with a 28mm>80mm macro manual zoom designed about 23 years ago, it has a very good to excellent performance for 28mm to 50mm and an acceptable performance for 70 and 80mm; the photographs were taken a cloudy day, the light was dull: http://www.flickr.com/photos/itarfoto/5474042173/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/itarfoto/5474042559/ Carlos --- Rollei List - Post to rollei_list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx - Subscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'subscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Unsubscribe at rollei_list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the subject field OR by logging into www.freelists.org - Online, searchable archives are available at //www.freelists.org/archives/rollei_list
