My wife has a cousin who she is in close contact with who lives in Florence and
has been living there for the last 20 years. She keeps wanting us to come for a
visit, and we were right on the verge, until you-know-what broke out.

The colors of the new Ektachrome 100 are very close to the real thing. Not as
vibrant as Kodachrome was, more like Fuji Provia. The scans don’t fully
reflect that and appear slightly “denser” and warmer than the transparencies.
Can’t wait to project them with my Rollei P11, but have to scan all the
strips (2 rolls) first before I mount them in (glassless) Hama Proslide AV
mounts.
Florence is one of my all time favorite cities, with Siena now a close second
(pictures to follow). My first visit to Florence, as a student "on a
shoestring”, was around 1983. I got a ride in a truck from Graz, Austria. I
was mesmerized by that first impression. Read Hermann Hesse on Italy… He was
there as a poor poet around 1903.
Get up early, cross the "Old Bridge” (Ponte Vecchio) and walk up to the
gardens past Galileo’s House and watch the city wake up, or sit outside a
Café downtown somewhere and just watch the people. So much beauty, everywhere!
