Hey all, thought I would mention that the Met (Metropolitan Museum of Art
in NYC) is currently running a rather excellent show of Irving Penn's work
- he shot most, if not all, of his work with a Rollei TLR. (One of which is
on display at the entrance to the exhibition - and seemed to draw quite a
crowd.)
I highly recommend the show - quite an assembly of the broad range of his
work, from still life to celebrity and fashion portraits to his commercial
work and his nudes, arranged in rough chronological order.
It's a bit humbling - and a bit inspiring - to see that he made all those
great images with virtually the same camera I have: really puts paid to the
old saw about a workman and his tools.....
