Ok,
thanks everyone. It must be the base. As several pointed out, the thicker bases
appear to be the ones that curl the worst.
I’ve always just put them into sleeves and then left the sleeved under a few
books for several days, that seems to help. I thought maybe there was something
I could do in the drying process that would help, guess not.
Any suggestions as to my developing question, posted separately?
Thanks,
Thor

Thor, it's to do with the thickness of the base as well as it's make-up not
the processing.
I processed some FP4 and HP4, no problems but Delta 400 was like a spring.
They were all processed at the same time in Rodinal.
I've found that with some European films marketed under the Rollei brand I
can't uncoil them enough to put a weighted clip on the end without a fight to
hold it straight. As soon as they are dry, they spring back into a tight
coil! I am always conscious there is a severe risk of scratching the emulsion
as it flies back and has to be unrolled to cut the next piece off.

Subject: [rollei_list] Any tricks to keep film from curling when drying?
I’ve been developing a bunch of film lately, and notice that some - but not
all - rolls tend to curl significantly when drying, making putting into flat
sleeves a pita.
So far I’ve been developing Rollei Retro 100 (aka APX100) and APX100, there
doesn’t seem to be any clear factor in which films curl and which dont. All
are rinsed in water, then in water with a drop of photoflow, and are hung to
dry with a weight (clamp) hanging at the bottom.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Thor
