I am not certain why you feel Roland Organs should be compatible with Rodgers
Models. Even the massive Roland corporation does not provide updated software
for previous generation products that were only compatible with Windows 98
systems. As such, why do you keep insisting that all Rodgers Consoles from 1990
to today should be compatible? If it were as "simple" as you claim, why
haven't Rodgers competitors offered this level of backward compatibility?
While ON THE RECORD, I would want the forum members to know that sequences
which I have recorded on an Artist 579 play back just perfectly on an Infinity
361. So what's the fuss all about? How many other builders have this level of
compatibility from the bottom to the top of their product lines?
Regarding Hector's midi files (I assume that you are talking about his 3
volumes of Hymn Paraphrases), note that I have found ways to continue to use
these wonderful charts with Rodgers' new Artist and Infinity Models for demos.
As such, I believe that others who want to use these charts can find creative
ways to make it happen if they have access to the books and discs. However,
since these books are now out of print and not available from Rodgers (who had
them copyrighted), it may be counter-productive to keep holding this "carrot"
in front this forum.
Here's an idea NOEL.... if you really think that these types of midi files have
merit (and I do), maybe Frog Music can license these materials or publish new
midi files from Hector, Jonas, and Donna that will work on the new Artist and
Infinity Series organs. If Frog Music should publish quality materials like
Hector's "Hymn Paraphrases" for use on new models, I would be first in line to
purchase these materials.
Maybe its time for Frog Music to stop living in the past and publish new
materials. for new models. that will help us "SING A NEW SONG to the Lord." I
challenge you to push Frog Music forward, and not keep dwelling on the past.

They won’t play on the Classic and Roland Series organs?
This is not full compatibility - and all the wonderful midi files of Hector
Olivera, Jonas Nordwall, Donna Parker and other luminaries of Rodgers heritage
will not play on them.
They would play on all PDI organs.
This would be easy to solve. Dieter is right, a comprehensive standard MIDI
library of organ stop assignments in the industry woudl be great, but doubtful
- very, very few digital oprgans are customized, so a standard simple ID system
of yearws ago would serve that vbast numebr of non-customized organs.
Rodgers US needs to rethink MIDI and implement it to master the playing field
once again and be leaders in the field.
