I found on You Tube The Wanamaker Organ: Part One and Part Two. Together
there is about 90 minutes spent explaining everything you would want to know
about this organ and can be explained in 90 minutes! It was mentioned that the
organ is in the orchestral style of pipe organs.
I would like to see Rodgers add two more organs to the four they presently
have. Then there could be the German baroque, the French Romantic, the English
Cathedral, the American Classic, the Orchestral and American Eclectic. My
understanding is that American Eclectic refers to the traditional Rodgers sound
of the specifications and sound of the finest Trillium Masterpiece organs which
were the pinnacle of the Rodgers technology until the new Infinity series was
introduced. I would use the American Eclectic name plates for the stops. That
way the organ's home specification would sound like what we all have come to
love as the Rodgers organ sound! Yet five other organ styles would provide
sound any organist would ever need considering the size of the organ in
question.
Listening to the limited number of orchestral organs I have heard, I believe
that the orchestral organ might do more to keep the Classical Digital Pipe
Organ in churches that have blended music which includes traditional hymns as
well as the Praise and Worship. The reason is that I find the pipe organ
orchestral stops sounding better when when playing chords than the digital
sampled orchestral instruments from the orchestra. It still sounds like an
organ and still lend to the orchestral sound that would blend in with piano and
all the other instruments used in Praise and Worship.
Below the You Tube videos is a list of several other Wanamaker Organ videos
plus one for St Paul's Cathedral! For those who have not already found this,
enjoy!
