36in should be enough.

Then again if you build heavy you might need more.

Also landing on the lake bed, you might want a slower decent.

Robert what size chute do you recommend. I have 36 inch chutes but judging by 
the weight of this little beast I wouldn't think that would be enough.

I saw another post, how big a motor.

We have had people build a doughnut AV bay to fit longer motors but you have to 
be careful of the fin thickness and maybe supplement as needed.
