From the rumors I have heard, you can chalk it up to a "brilliant" move by
Gary at Aerotech.
From what I heard, Gary wasn't happy with the revenue from licensing his
motor casing production to Rouse-tech. So, last year, he simply didn't
renew the agreement when it was up for renewal.
Unfortunately, he did this without first building up a good stock of
finished casings, or even the raw materials or production capacity to pick
up where Rouse left off. So, AT casings have been in extremely sort supply
ever since.
Now, while this rumor makes sense, and explains the situation, I have to
emphasize that this is not something I have heard from an authoritative
source, such as Aerotech. I have heard substantially the same story from
multiple people, but I cannot vouch for the veracity of the tale, as it has
not been confirmed by Aerotech, and my only sources are second-hand.
But, it does explain a lot.

For the rest of us, a curiosity question: does anyone know the backstory
(rumors, gossip?) as to why Aerotech is having problems fulfilling orders
for motor hardware, especially their Hobby Line (24/40)? I placed an order
in January for a couple of 24/40 motor sets that was never filled. Their
online store says you can’t get closures and casings for them. An order
for a high power casing was much delayed. I asked Tim at Wildman and he
just laughed.
Anyone know what’s going on (enquiring minds want to know!)
