SUBJECT: ARMY MARS REGION 4 ALERT NOTIFICATION (U)

1. The Southeast Region US Army Military Hospitals may be placed on an
operational alert status effective this date. While details are not
completely known, "SERMC" may or may not have need to use the Region 4 HF
channels in support of their activities, (actual event or exercise). US Army
MARS Region 4 will operate on a non-interference basis to SERMC effective
immediately through 6 May 2009, unless this notice is subsequently
rescinded. US Army MARS Region 4 operations will continue as scheduled,
however, all members are advised to support our
SERMC subscribers should they enter any of the Region 4 nets, or request
communications assistance of us.

2. Tennessee Army MARS in conjunction with and cooperation of a number of
agencies and subscribers conducts a deployment and training exercise
effective this date through 2 MAY 2009. This is a Region 4 coordinated
exercise which is designed to accomplish NIMS and Army MARS training
objectives. All Region 4 Army MARS members are encouraged to monitor and
participate in this exercise. Additional information will be forwarded to
all members via email and radio as appropriate.

a. The Tennessee / Region 4 exercise is designed to flex the communications
resources throughout Region 4 and even into some other Regions. It will
involve HQS
Army MARS and a number of other agencies and organizations.
b. Inquiries on exercise events to include current HF channels being used
may be determined by sending an email to AAT4TTN@xxxxxxxxxxx and requesting
the information. Members are encouraged to use the Winlink-2000 system for
all emails sent during this exercise.
c. The scenario for the exercise will be made available through a series of
alert notifications and command messages from HQS Army MARS, AAA9EC/AAM4ETN,
AAM4RE, and other MARS staff officers. The exercise will consist of three
phases: Alert & Deployment, Operational, and Redeployment. There will be an
end of exercise "quick critique" conducted on the exercise's HF net on
Friday evening (approximately 8-9 PM EDST).
3. Monitoring the US Army MARS Region 4 Call-Up HF channel, KEA, is
recommended for maintaining watch during the exercise deployment on 30
April. Members are
also encouraged to flex the US Army MARS HF guard channels (KMC on USB, KEE
on LSB) by conducting communications checks with AAA9USA throughout the
exercise.

4. All US Army MARS Region 4 scheduled nets and "Road Ahead 101" Training
are suspended effective 301300Z APR 2009 through 020200Z MAY 2009 with the
exceptions of the following nets:
a. AAA4RD/B
b. AAA4RD/Q
c. All Local VHF Nets.
Regular scheduled Region 4 nets and "101 Training" will resume on 2 May
2009.

5. All members are reminded to keep a log of individual participation in
this exercise to include details of significant events, etc., in order to
document After Action Reports. All members participating are requested to
send your AARs to your respective SMDs or their designated representatives
within three days after the end of exercise. SMDs are to consolidate AARs
and provide a composite report to this office with Cc (info) copies to the
Region 4 staff.
