Dear Bonneville Team,
Just a quick update. Please excuse any grammar mistakes this evening. I'm
tired and heading to bed right after I finish this email.
First, remember our big door-to-door canvassing campaign is THIS Saturday.
We'll meet volunteers at the Villa on Part at 9:30, hand out turfs and send
them on their merry ways to knock on doors. Todd is going to send a reminder
text about the details AND asking them to bring a friend or two to help out.
If you can think of ANYONE who has expressed an interest in helping, this is
where the rubber meets the road, and they are desperately needed. I've
conservatively predicted that we can get to 75% this Saturday, and I actually
think that number could be low. Once we knock out District 33, we can start
on District 30 and help Districts 32 & 34. Let's let the state know that
Eastern Idaho is here and we're not going to be discounted. The door
knocking will end about 12:45 and everyone is invited to head to Tap-N-Fill
to get their petitions notarized and enjoy a friendly brew or two (at their
expense). Petitions will then be delivered to the County Elections Office on
Monday, and we'll see what we have left to do.
Todd, in the text, remind people to dress warmly and bring their IDs for
getting their petitions notarized. Judy, if you're back, could you organize
calling people Friday evening?
Zach is going to be here with the green camper van. If you have suggestions
of the best place to park it as I don't think it will fit on Park, and we
want it to be seen, let me know. It will be a great back-drop at Tap-N-Fill
afterward. Zach thinks we need lots of clipboards this weekend. We need to
reach out to those who have one and ask them to bring them with them. I'm
checking with him to see if we need more. We might need to make a run to the
Dollar Tree for a few more. Do we need to make notes on them or just send
people on their way?
I spoke with Luke this weekend, and he said that our levy vote is one of the
state organization's top 5 targets for March 13. He and his wife will be in
town March 11 and would like to schedule some sort of volunteer event that
evening around/shortly after 6. That's a Sunday, so I'm not sure how well
that will work. If it's a small thing with just us and maybe Amy, I could do
it here, but if it's more people, that might overwhelm the rest of the Smith
household. If you have any ideas, let me know ASAP. We're going to talk
about some plans the state has and wants from us for this election.
We will meet at Todd's house (440 Highland) on Monday, February 26, at 6:30
p.m. Zach and company will be staying at my house that night, so my goal is
to keep the meeting AS SHORT AS POSSIBLE. This meeting will be focused on a
summary of Saturday, confirming plans for 3/3 (which is still part of the
statewide campaign and which I will be unable to attend), the 3/13 election,
and MORE door knocking.
I do have more postcards and will bring them to the meeting Monday. I hope I
remembered everything. In case I haven't said it enough, thanks for all you
do for this campaign. I am very proud to be working with such a great group
of people.
Sincerely,
Leslie
