H We use Acer laptops here and have had great results. They are running Windows XP Professional and Office 2003 Professional. I've run JAWS, ZoomText, Universal Reader, Read&Write, Ultimate Talking Dictionary, Text-to-Audio, and more with no problems. I have not tried Dragon NaturallySpeaking on them, but I think they would work fine. They have wireless networking which would allow for the wireless internet if you have a wireless router in your home. I've used the for presentations with LCD projectors and they have no issues with that either. I have two in our office. One is a standard size laptop while the other is a lightweight model. It is a bit smaller and quite a bit lighter than the standard model. If I can swing it, my next laptop will be an Acer, unless they get goofy and mess them up between now and then. I will add that I have not had good luck with Gateway laptops. I've not yet been able to get JAWS to work correctly on one, and I've tried a few different ones. Now, it has been a couple of years since I've tried one, but that was the results I had in the past. These laptops can typically connect to a replicator so that when using them at home, it is just like using a Desktop machine, but on the road, very portable and good battery life. ----- Original Message ----- From: "marvin hunkin" <marvkin@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 10, 2006 11:51 PM Subject: [real-eyes] Notebooks > Hi. > thinking about looking at possibly purchasing a laptop computer, with > jaws, and internet security, like nortans, some good accessable backup, > and what good web design software, looking at purchasing. > also looking at office 2003, outlook express, macromedia studio, and what > ever other webdesign, or cms software, looking for to host my own site, or > get hosted on a site. > now what would it cost for this package? > also looking for a fast processor, plenty of memory, a reasonable cost, > and looking for the professional version of jaws to run either windows xp > pro, windows 2000, or advanced server 2003. > so if any one got any good reveiws, bad, what models are the best, and > what sort of cost i am looking at. > using a computer at my college, and do not have a laptop and a copy of > jaws and internet broardband at home, and what would it cost me? > also any one got more info about the trial in tas, about using internet > wirelessely via electricity lines or power lines? > and something that is sort of weight light, but very robust, and able to > take knocks and bumps, as not the most delicate guy, and accidentally > bumping into things. > also would want some thing, with a wireless network, and wireless > internet. > let me know. > just putting some feelers out. > cheers Marvin. > > > > >
