So, if I'm following this, the charcoal in the middle is hotter, or is the
idea to get it all the same temperature.

rofl; yes. I don't know why a coffee can would not work, but then, when you
light the charcoal, don't you have to re-distribute it, so you can cook.
There is nothing tastier than charcoal cooking for sure.

Technique I use to do was cut the bottom and top off a coffee can metal can
punch a few holes in the side fill it with Charcoal squirt some starter
fluid on it lite the Charcoal let it burn tell its burning thoroughly and
then lift the can with tongs and you're ready to cook !Worked great for me
prior to purchasing a gas grill and in my opinion Charcoal is mucfh safer
than the gas at least for me. Now my wife does all the igniting of the gas
grilland I'm standing near so I can ;put her out if necessary.

Hi Mitchell,

I understand, if you use a chimney to start your charcoal and long
tongs and fire-heat proof mitts it can be done, though I never have; maybe
someone will really enlighten us.

Maybe some JD in the salsa. Give it that smokey charcoal flavoring.
That's not a bad idea now that I think about it.

Speaking of charcoal, anyone here ever grilled with charcoal? I've a
powerful hankering for a grilled steak, but the starter has gone out on the
gas grill, and I have never used charcoal before.
