Is it cheap, or comparative shopping? -----Original Message----- From: real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Robert Beach Sent: Friday, August 24, 2012 11:03 AM To: real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [real-eyes] Re: Audible app for Android I agree. That's why I have memberships with NLS, Bookshare, Learning Ally, Audible, and Google Books. If I can get the book from NLS, I will. If not, then I look to the pay services. I like having the options, including free ones. Go ahead, call me cheap. <grin> Robert Lee Beach Assistive Technology Specialist Kansas City Kansas Community College 7250 State Avenue Kansas City, KS 66112 913-288-7671 rbeach@xxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Andrea Breier Sent: Friday, August 24, 2012 9:46 AM To: real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [real-eyes] Re: Audible app for Android You had better watch those kinds of statements, you will get classified as cheap. if you don't watch it. I say. what is wrong with utilizing our library's? I know a lot of sighted people that frequent their local libraries just because they are free. Hugs, Andrea M. I agree, it's a good way to read. Unfortunately, it's more expensive than NLS. <grin> Robert Lee Beach Assistive Technology Specialist Kansas City Kansas Community College 7250 State Avenue Kansas City, KS 66112 913-288-7671 rbeach@xxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:real-eyes-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Steven Clark Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2012 4:35 PM To: nutkc@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; real-eyes@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [real-eyes] Audible app for Android I installed the Audible app for Android today and its wonderful. I simply signed in with my username and password and my library of books, only one so far was there on the screen. I selected the book and pressed the enter key on my keyboard. It gave me a warning about downloading via a wireless carrier and I checked the box to not warn me again. I got progress updates on downloading the book to my phone and once it was done, pressed enter on the book again and I found buttons for play, bookmarks, book info etc.. I pressed enter on play and the book started playing. The play button changed to a pause button. I paused the book and came back to it a few hours later and had no problem resuming from where I left off. Shopping for a book doesn't seem to work as well but I can easily go to the audible.com web site, purchase a book and then open the app and it will be in my library. A very nice way to listen to books, Steve To subscribe or to leave the list, or to set other subscription options, go to www.freelists.org/list/real-eyes To subscribe or to leave the list, or to set other subscription options, go to www.freelists.org/list/real-eyes To subscribe or to leave the list, or to set other subscription options, go to www.freelists.org/list/real-eyes To subscribe or to leave the list, or to set other subscription options, go to www.freelists.org/list/real-eyes To subscribe or to leave the list, or to set other subscription options, go to www.freelists.org/list/real-eyes
