I went to the storage lot today to fix the two tires on the front axle. Stewart
Rolfe Automotive dismounted/mounted the tires and replaced the valve stems.
They got right on it and fixed them while I waited.
In the meanwhile I spoke with Bob Leipertz about the situation. When I was
pulling the tires on the front axle, I noticed that the cover on the boat to
our right had been cut as well. Bob will take care of notifying its owner.
After I got the front tires reinstalled, I looked at the valve stems on the
rear tires. They were cut as well. Apparently their blade was getting dull,
because they did not get them cut all the way through. Not to be melodramatic
but if we had lost both rear tires while pulling the trailer, there likely
would have been a pretty nasty wreck.
Mr Leipertz has offered to cover the cost of the repairs. The cost to replace
the valve stems on the front axle tires were $44. I expect the pair on the rear
to be the same.
