Peter……..a similar story……my Dad, another Peter, was 17 was he enlisted in the
Navy in 42 right after graduation. We was on a destroyer that was sunk in the
Lingayen Gulf f the western coast of Luzon and rarely talked about it……late 44
or early 45…….I do know that one minute everything was fine and the next minute
he was in the water 200’ away and the ship was gone (with only about 50
survivors)……a Kamikaze.

Nice work.
My dad was in the battle of the bulge. He went ashore at D-Day + 1. That’s
about all I know of his service. Got a Purple Heart because “a couple bricks
fell on him”. Like so many of the other men returning from that war, he
never talked about it.

Have a great day everyone!
I finished this earlier this AM……..I’m watching Battle of the Bulge and it
allowed me time to hold pieces in place while the glue set up……..next will
be the sand……I’m tempted to fill the space with 1” green foam, painted a
“sand “ color, then covered in while glue and play sand.
