Hi,
It also depends on where you'll be editing the files from. For
example, if I'm using WinSCP to access files on the Pi from Windows,
for editing a simple configuration file I find its built-in editor to
be good enough. If I'm connecting over SSH I favour Nano.

familiar.
It is a highly configurable editor.
The linux standard is "VI" or "VIM" which comes with most linux packages.
There are many others, it depends on which set of obscure key commands
happens to hit your button.
