I have been following the PIXYCAM by CMUCam.
This has on-board object recognition with text output. This might be useful as
a smart hall door camera, using a cheap ARDUINO to sound buzzer, open latch,
send text speaky messages , etc.
It should be smart enough to respond to finger signals. It has colour
selectivity also.
Lighting of visitor`s face critical to give mirror effect from plain glass.

I am guessing that this mirror is one of those two-way mirrors people
put on fancy housses. it allows the person to watch something on a
computer screen, or read news I guess, while he is shaving, for example.
it takes advantage of the fact that two-way mirrors reflect as a mirror
only if there is more light on the reflective side of that glass. if
there is more light on the other side, i.e. caused by something like a
monitor, then the image from that side can be seen by a person of the
reflective side of the glass.
In other words, the same glass can be a mirror in most of its surface,
while also showing a monitor in a given portion of its area.
Not relevant for most of us in this list.

Pranav, could be, but, am honestly not sure what it offers - image

Hmm the smart mirror is potentially interesting. Is it accessible? <grin===========================================================
