Just decided to test the FM tuner on my Blaze ET with the Koss KSC75
ear clips I got back in December, and the reception is much better
than I can remember ever getting with the Panasonic ear clips I've
been using for the majority of the time I've had the Blaze... and
hooking them up with the aux cable I use for extra slack on my desktop
improves the reception further. I guess the short wires of the
Panasonics had a downside aside from being too short to carry the
Blaze comfortably in a deep pants pocket(which is why I have a
belt-clip phone holster for my Blaze).

Reception still wasn't the greatest, though tthat might be down to the
KOS earclips having worn out quickly(the wire for the right earpiece
frayed to the point of uselessness within three months, and this pair
was a replacement for a pair I bought in November that failed in the
same way within a month... and as I was testing, I noticed the
earphone wire fraying at the plug as well... I've ordered some new
Panasonics and am just waiting for my sighted housemates to retrieve
them from the mailbox(I live in a trailer park with centralized
mailboxes and no proper pedestrian access), so I'll give combining the
aux cable with a new pair of earphones to hear what happens... and
while I like the longer wire of theKoss KSC75s, I'm going back to the
Panasonics I've been using for years because they're cheaper, are
comfortable when pressed between the side of the head and a pillow,
have earpieces that stick together more easily for storage, and I
can't tell any difference in sound quality... plus I'm pretty sure
I've averaged  at least a year of use with the Panasonics while I've
gone through two pairs of the Kos earclips in 4 months(including the
first pair failing within the window for Amazon to replace them).

And while I have no idea what the Blaze Firmware is built on(if I
remember correctly, their firmware is distributed as encrypted zip
archives only the Blaze itself is able to unpack and the 4GB of
internal storage reserved for system use is completely invisible to
the end user), it would be nice to install a custom firmware,
especially if it could fix some of the player's few shortcomings... or
add-in full support for keyboards and a web browser to take full
advantage of it's Wi-Fi capabilities.
