Well I got my focus 40 working on the RPI. His suggestion to just do
Sudo killall brltty
Sudo systemctl start brltty
Worked. I guess the big thing I needed to know is the kernel error could be
ignored. Not only that but I had to wait up to like 30 seconds for the Focus
to be found. Now I am trying to get my Orbit 20 and Orbit 40 to work but so
far I haven't. They should work since they have emulation mode for RB18 and in
the case of the 40 the Verio. Once I get them to work with USB. I will setup
the Bluetooth and then I can get my little braille robot Sphero RVR up and
running. I guess I also need to read the manuals on brltty since I am normally
a Orca/Jaws/NVDA user not a brl user.
Thanks for your suggestion. If I had not have thought of the brltty list
before you wrote here your suggestion would have led me that way and that’s
help in itself.

Looks like you did get 1 today. Hopefully it'll work for you. Please post back
if it does (or doesn't) work so the rest of us can benefit from your
experience, ie, won't need to be a guinea pig lol. It's not a real active list,
& the discussions can get eye-poppingly technical, aeven for techies, at times.
Good luck w/your project.

Yes thanks. I have last night and am still waiting on a response.
Amazingly enough it doesn't seem to have as many active members as
this list.

Ken, I've no experience w/this. However, I'm wondering if you've tried
the BrlTTY listserve (I know, yet another 1 to subscribe to, right)? I
get you need that like an 8th hole in your head. However, the dev runs
it, & I rather suspect if anyone can help you, Dave can.
So in case it's helpful, the address is:
brltty at brltty.app
It's a mailman list, the info is at:
https://brltty.app/mailman/listinfo
HTH, & sorry it involves another listserve.
