Oh yes, and, I also still like to approach the raspberry pi as a form of
entry level mini-PC, where a bluetooth headset can be considered a
luxury item in some areas...<smile>

WHat’s your love affair with the 3.5 inch jack? I don’t see the need for
it.
I’m willing to be corrected though if there’s some reason, especially if
it helps our community. I would think the space savings would be more
beneficial with what could be added than a jack that Thomas Edison probably
used. If not then Mr. Bell.
Bluetooth 5.0 has interesting features to me so does the idea of having a
digital stream from the device to the headset where I could use my own DACs
and include lots of other features that you can’t now like head position
censors, health readings, maybe visual feedback etc.
If you want a 3.5 add a dongle.
I find this an interesting topic.

Hello
I have just emailed Liz Upton at the Pi Foundation to raise with her our
concerns that one day they might remove the analog audio jack.
No harm in getting in early rather than waiting until it happens and
then complaining.

True, but, I would think that, along the lines of the
one-laptop-per-child slogan - which I think the raspberry pi was sort of
based on, initially, they might want to keep it possible for younger
people getting into playing around with a pi, etc. to just be able to
plug-and-play?

It's likely to come down to...let's remove the audio jack and composite===========================================================
video jack to save space on the PCB for this other stuff.
And when they ask "is anybody using the analog jack anyway?", they won't
think of asking us.

I think it might just come down to that as far as all mainstream guys
are concerned, general usage of the pi involves plugging it in to HDMI,
where the 3.5mm jack is no longer of use, but, on the other hand, if
guys are using it for robotics, in collaboration with arduino, etc.,
then you would think they would want to keep the 3.5mm jack for
outputting forms of audio cues, but, who knows.

Has there been any indicator that anyone other than Apple would be===========================================================
crazy enough to get rid of something as fundamental as the 3.5mm audio
