Excuse me for posting to the mailing list like a year ago, but I suddenly have
the same problem again. My current job is ending this month, so I have to look
for a new job right now, or to leave the country in the coming weeks/months.
Besides RackTables and other open source contributions, for the past 20 years I
have been doing assorted works in Linux software development, systems
administration and networks. More than a half of this time has to do with data
centres -- in varying roles, environments and scales of operation.
I am still in the United Kingdom and would prefer not to switch countries
another time if possible. Hiring a foreigner in the UK does require some
paperwork, but looking at the register of UK Tier 2 and 5 sponsors with around
30000 employers, it seems to me it is reasonably doable. Although I will
carefully consider offers from many other countries given appropriate visa
support.
