Hi
I hope to find an answer to the following question:
How do I map services (like a specific Web-Application) to (one or
more) servers?
Example:
I have a virtual machine (VM), that is used for hosting RackTables.
I have another VM, that is running a MySQL database.
I have another VM, that is the slave of the MySQL DB above.
I have another VM, that is running DNS and DHCP.
...
Now I want:
* see, which services might be affected, if a VM is down
* somehow generate a list of services, that can be used for an
"application inventory"
I was thinking of defining a Dictionary + Attributes, but this just
allows to have a VM running one application (or I need to have special
entries, if a machine is running more than one service).
Another option might be to use Tags for this. But our Tag-Tree is
already very full.
The "virtual services" (IP SLB) came into my mind, but so far I
struggle there a bit - looks like these can just be used for
load-balancers?
Any idea/suggestion welcome!
With kind regards,
Lars
