I use a French CMDB/Helpdesk freeware called GLPI. This is a modular
system (php based) with a fairly well developed plugin API. They have
a rack management plugin for their older version but it is nowhere
near as well developed as racktables but the rest of the system is
very good. The rack plugin is no longer being developed for their
latest version and I was wondering if you could consider developing
racktables so that it could be used in both plugin and stand alone
mode. This would help both tools by providing a wider audience and
expanded capabilities for racktables as well as filling a gap in the
glpi capability.

The plugin system for GLPI looks fairly straightforward and I feel
sure that integration would be a modest task for the racktables team.
The plugin functionality might even be supported by the GLPI
developers.

I have seen several integrations that might provide a template for a
racktables plugin, fusioninventory and eventcentral.

I would be very interested in your views on this.

I'd be more interested in integration with ocsinventory-ng where the server collects reports from the host agents to stay up to date. GLPI already integrates with it to a certain extent, but I don't believe there is a way to propagate any of the user-defined fields that you can create in OCS and that you'd need to hold the location/rack/power info that needs to be connected with the device.
