Hello fellow python addicts, My name is Jeff, and this is my first post here. I had been looking to build a recumbent, and stumbled across the python page. What a great idea, front wheel drive....anyway I has hooked. I started with a 20" bike which by weird cooincidence was called 'Python' Check the sticker on the front fork. Here are some pictures: http://static.flickr.com/25/65760873_8d383bb683.jpg?v=0 http://static.flickr.com/30/65760872_d1149547e8.jpg?v=0 http://static.flickr.com/26/65760870_73a8907f70.jpg?v=0 The black part of the frame is my beloved 10 speed that I have had since grade school. It sure was hard to take a hacksaw to that one... But I have garbage picked a pristine Fuji 12 speed to replace it. Actually, since starting this project I have garbage picked about 10 bikes total. My new python prototype is coming along nicely. I quickly rigged the seat with duct tape, and the red rope needs replaced with steel tubing, and was just added to take the force of pedaling for a quick test run in the driveway. I have only made 4-5 pedal revolutions before crashing. After a few crashes I added the training wheels, but I don't yet know if they will help or hinder the learning process. The weather here in Illinois has turned winter, so I will have plenty of time to finish up the front end. I was planning on cutting off everything above the rope, but I wonder about those pink handlebars.. I just stuck them in there as a joke, but they seem to be in just the right spot. What do you experienced pilots think about my over seat steering? My real plan for handlebars is to install them in the stem that is serving as the center pivot. Specs: Pivot Angle: 70 degrees Trail: 26.6 cm Seat Height: 34 cm BB Height from ground: 66.7 cm Ground clearance: 13.3 cm Wheelbase: 104 cm Well, I wonder how well it will ride? Can you tell from the specs how it might handle? I am looking for tips on learing to ride this beast.
