I dropped a Nikon F100 on its nose once. Camera was ‘Fine’. The 85mm F1.8 took
the hit for it. KEH returned the lens as unrepairable due to the absence of
parts,
so at some point I might open up the lens to see what goes. The focus is very
very stiff, so I occasionally mount it and focus it manually. I’d be concerned
that if I let the camera drive it it could kill the camera.
I have it on an F5 now, as the F100 went for a taxi ride in New York and never
came back. The F100 took a 21mm lens with it and I’m not happy with them
eloping like that.
