Left over anti-halation dye can be removed by extended washing. Tmax is
notable for this. I always wash film for at least 25 minutes in continuously
exchanged water.
Several years of acute drought in California (early 1990s) made me try the
Ilford
scheme for reducing wash water in small tank processing:

Which is basically:
- Use a non-hardening fixer (I prefer Ilford RAPID)
- Fill tank, invert 5 times, dump
- Fill tank, invert 10 times, dump
- Fill tank, invert 20 times, dump
- Rinse with wetting agent, etc.
I primarily use T-Max and have never had a problem with residual dye
this way. I inspect the film after the first 5 inversions, if there's any
residual
dye, I figure the fixer is getting tired, fix a little longer, and restart
the wash.

While this seemed too good to be true at first, 25-year old negs haven't
shown any signs of deterioration. HCA and/or extended wash also worked
to remove the pink, but this scheme made life quite a bit easier.
