I remember well Gene dropping in on my freshmen's class of
photo illustration in late '64. The class of about 30 was in awe.
Gene still had some blockbuster stories in him like the Japan
mercury. Nobody had heard of Lee Friedlander, and barely
about Diane Arbus.
