I worked for several years in the high speed motion picture camera industry. 
Our 16mm pin registered cameras took 500 frames per second (12.5 feet per 
second).  The rotating prism cameras took up to 11,000 pictures per second 
(275 ft per second).  We had 35mm rotating prism cameras that would go up to 
400 feet per second.  There are faster cameras out there.  The use of 
polyester based films was a necessity at these speeds.
