A few months ago, my sister stopped-over to visit and handed me a camera
in vintage leather case, saying "you'll use this more than I do, hang on
to it for me". Upon opening the case, I find a Leica M3 (50 Summarit 1.5).
She had it CLA'ed fairly recently and just isn't using it.
Finally got around to running a test roll of 400TMY through it, though that
was over a period of time, and quickly learned something Leica people all
know: I need to wait a bit after removing the film to let the film curl
return. I should have known better...
Once I popped the reel out of the cassette in the changing bag, *BOING*
the film exploded into a large jumble. Of course, I was loading a wire
reel so this really threw me for a loop. Lesson learned.
Gosh it's fun to get back to actual film, though.
That Leica - much like a TLR - puts people at ease, starts conversations.
Good times.
