The tablet smells a bit of chlorine so that's why I guess its specified for an open system but the others are specifically sodium silver chloride and so suited to closed waterbaths. A single Anti-algae 10 tablet should be just right. By boiling and decanting my waterbath water I've found (together with proper cleaning) algae problems to--- even without such algaecides--- to be minimal. In my Novas where I leave the water in for months on end (and longer) I use deionized water. -- -- Edward C.
