Tim, Great to see you back on the list. I can't believe it's been four years already, but I'm glad to hear you've been shooting and processing again. I too miss APX100. I've been using FP4+ in 4x5 (developed in D76) and been pretty happy. Good to have you back. -Charlie --- On Sun, 8/17/08, Tim Daneliuk <tundra@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Tim Daneliuk <tundra@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [pure-silver] I Love The Smell Of Hypo In The Morning To: pure-silver@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sunday, August 17, 2008, 11:20 AM Greetings Past- And Present Fellow Travelers - It has been some time since I was last here. Worse still, it has only been recently that I have gotten back into the darkroom on any regular basis. Judging from the list archives, it seems that this list has continued to remain active and this makes me pretty happy. I suppose some explanation is order. When I ceased hosting the list back 2004 there were many currents of change in my personal life - most all of which worked out very positively - and I wanted more time for other pursuits. Since that time I have intermittently been doing some serious photographic work. However, it was not until late 2006 that I was able to get some significant work done, but even that was a very brief excursion. This year has been a different story. I've been able to shoot more than I have in the past 5 years in lots of formats. I even shot a roll or two of 35mm - something I haven't done in a decade. (It was fun, but I quickly remembered just why I switched to sheetfilm ;) I've also had a bit of time to pursue one of my parallel interests, "healing" old cameras. This year, I rehabbed a couple of old Mamiya TLR bodies. They may not be 'Blads, but they sure are fun to use. It's sobering to realize that my under-$200 Mamiya TLR produces better images than a state-of the art 10 Mpix Nikon D-80. This pleases me and annoys the younger folks (which pleases me even more ;).*** Of course, some things have changed for the worse. My beloved Agfapan APX 100 is no more - at least not in the US in 120 and 4x5. I hear rumors of it being reintroduced - is that true? Bergger papers came and went, and now are back again - the rumor is that the paper is now being made at the Ilford plant. I wonder how/if this will change the papers. All in all, it's been an interesting 4 year hiatus. I'm hoping to be able to hang around on the list more permanently this time and become reacquainted with all of you old members and meet the new. The original pure-silver was always a labor of love and I'm pleased it found a new home where the quality and passion of the old list has been well preserved. With Warmest Regards, Tim Daneliuk *** Oh, if anyone wants/needs a nice, clean Mamiya C-3 body, contact me off-list. They're a great and inexpensive way to get into medium-format and lenses are abundant on eBay. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tim Daneliuk tundra@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx PGP Key: http://www.tundraware.com/PGP/ ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there. ============================================================================================================= To unsubscribe from this list, go to www.freelists.org and logon to your account (the same e-mail address and password you set-up when you subscribed,) and unsubscribe from there.
