oxidized silver compounds in the emulsion remains

stored, with the help of moisture in the air, they can
ionize and migrate within the gelatin and support
layers. Then they can react with sulfiding gas in air
to cause stain.

Could you please provide what you consider the
definitive reference to this piece of research?

#2.
The fact remains, I and apparently others, have used
this process with papers and they have survived the
test of time....

You write:
"the damage I mentioned above (that supposedly coming
from HE) is far greater than the loss of this
potential protective effect (supposedly coming from a
slight residual thiosulfate level)."

Why is this?
Could you explain what measurements you made that
demonstrate the validity of this conclusion?

TIA,
