Since we're talking about darkroom gear, here's an amusing story:I've had the
4x5 SuperChromega about 4 years. When I first gotit the supplemental light
used to illuminate the dichoric filter dialsettings didn't work. Got another
bulb. Still out. Must be the wiring.Too big a hassle. Live with it. Than
the other day I find the plasticLIGHT SWITCH under the head. I had one back
when and didn't realizethere was a switch.rich

I was very disappointed when the Focomat went to someone else
but it was a family deal. Perhaps its no better than the Omega
but I like it as a piece of fine machinery.

Richard,
I was lucky to find a focomat IC with anti-newton glass and
the 12x16 easel plus the spacer for the bigger easel and
complete in great condition. It's fast a joy. My three other
enlargers are 4x5 SuperCromega, a Durst 601 2/4 (for condenser
light and the Minox enlarger.

The problem with filing is that you can't un-file. I

I was offered a Focomat long ago but before I could get
it a
member of the donor's family grabbed it. Too bad. I never even
saw it so am not sure if it was the big one (takes Rollei
negatives). Anyway, I am happy with my Omega D-2.
