I never understood the bother of doing wet plates when one could, conceivably,
make dry plates and carry them around ready to go. No mobile darkroom
required. One would achieve similar edge effects from hand making these and it
would still be usable for albumen or other historical processes. If I were to
ever pick up analog photography again and hand make the plates, I'd go dry
plate rather than lug around chemistry as well as the gear to shoot.

It's a thread from rangefinder forum.....I've got a dry plate holder for
the 5x7 Graflex,it's $40 for 10 in that size...might be fun to try in the
summer...........
