I make Pyrocat-HD Part A in 500ml batches. This calls for 1g of Phenidone.
However, Phenidone is notoriously hard to get into water solution even
if the water is heated to, say, 120F, and I use continuous magnetic
stirring on my lab hotplate.
It's been suggested that I could mix the Phenidone into 10cc (ml) of
alcohol - 99% isopropyl, ethanol, and even denatured have been suggested.
Two questions:
- Will doing this - and thereby displacing 10ml of the 500ml solution with
alcohol make any appreciable difference in how the developer works?
- Does the type of alcohol matter?
