I hope the chemists might weigh in on this but I am wondering if a soak in an
EDTA solution might help?

Subject: [pure-silver] A white residual layer after toning
Hi,
I do toning on B&W prints. Especially after lead bleached toned with thiourea,
a thin white layer forms. Probably it is a compound of silver with
ferricyanide, thiocyanate or similar or lead compounds of similar since bleach
has lead. Any comment? I have tried to use acetic acid solution, but it did not
help.
