I've had it too in the past. Have you tried a CD cleaning disc? Is the
battery fully charged or does it play up on mains?
Hope you don't have to send it back.

Just before I send the ptr1 back for repair, wondering if I am
missing something?
Each time I put a cd in the drive, I get the message "bad or
incompatible disc".
Have used at least 6 different cd's all of which are fine in other
devices.
Anything worth trying before it is sent back and has anyone else had
this fault?
