My mis-placed PT1 unit had the latest firmware installed on it, but when I
started a recording, the machine kept repeating "outloud".

I agree with that. I just thought that since they now do an update it seems
once a year, maybe the next one will fix those bugs. But it seems that since
they started working with APH now there updates is less often than it use to
be.
