Jamie, I looked at the plextor Europe site, and can confirm what you have
said pertaining to the PRS and PRs Pro software's. in the states, IRTI,
located in Grass Valley California is the distributor for the Plextalk
products exclusively, so I guess I'll have to wait until Peter Proscia, who
I kknow would bend over backwards to get it if he could, can get it and
sell it. I am sure others like me in the states want the package too, so it
may be a matter of time before there is enough demand for the PRS Pro
software to become available. I am hopeing when enough people buy the pocket
this will indeed happen.

For the PRS which is included as part of the package you get with the PTR1
or PTR2, you certainly do need to connect the device to be able to install
the software.
However, and I may be wrong, I think that because the PRS Pro software is
sold as a stand alone product, it does not have this restriction and would
be able to be installed on any computer without having a PTR1 or PTR2. If
you find a source in the States, it would be worth double checking this
before purchasing. Note that there are two products i.e. PRS and PRS Pro.
Another thing to bear in mind is that the need to have the PTR1 or PTR2
connected only applies during installation and uninstallation of the PRS
software - you do not need it connected when you are using the software
subsequently.

Jamie, I am in the states, and I checked with Peter Proscia and he told me
he doesn't have the separate PRS software's to sell. I asked him to check
with Plextor to see if they can sel a stand alone version of the software
for we folks that don't have it because of never owning a PTR-1 or PTR-2. he
told me you have to connect either the PTR-1 or the PTR-2 to the computer
for the installer to install the software.

I don't know whether you are in the States or on the Europe side of the
Atlantic but I've been given the following information from Plextor Europe:
PRS PRO software can be purchased from Plextor Europe.
They can ship directly: when they receive an order, they will provide a
download link and license keys.
Differences (only minor) between PRS and PRS PRO can be found on the
plextalk website:

price for a single license = EUR 165
price for 5 user license = EUR 600
If you are on the other side of the Atlantic, you may have a similar
arrangement through your local Plextor rep.
