Hi Glenn,I looked at the link there, thanks. Looks to me like one OM could not find a server to connect to (which has been the case for a while in the US) and the other OM used a Mac. I know it can be installed on a Mac as I have tried it when I was able to loan a Mac for a few minutes. But, there is no installer there and if we want Mac users we really need to improve that situation. It's a tough situation as I have no Mac to try installers on (volunteers are most welcome).
If Cygwin works for you then I think you should stay there. More things I'd like to comment on here but I'm at work and people are waiting for me at a meeting...

Hello Per, Here is where I read those comments that I mentioned: http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?332060-PSKMail-and-flDigi-virtual-TNCI for one really like pskmail, and I would really enjoy seeing it grow in popularity. I agree with you as far as using the soundcard rather than a Pactor box. Mainly because the cost is out of reach for me and many others as well, plus it is a lot to carry on a hiking trip or camping trip. That being said, I am truly amazed at how many users there are using Winlink, Airmail, and so on. I'm sure that the soundcard program Winmor has helped tremendously with it's growth and popularity. I am a big fan of using the narrow modes, why use 2 - 3 kc if it isn't necessary? Cygin has enabled me to get pskmail server going, I will using andLinux if you feel that it would be better for pskmail, but as it stands I have no problems with my server using the 1.5.8 Client, except the "Wrong Password" issue. I would like to move to another band to create more opportunity for stations closer to me to use the server. I tried 80 meters, but I was asked to leave because I was interfering with a CW traffic net. In this area it is very difficult to find a frequency on that band that is not in use by one of those nets. Except for those being used by the Winklink systems, nobody challenges them, ever.Thank you for your response. When the connection is poor the arq connection can behave the way you say here. I know I had that a while when I had noise reducing DSP engaged in my transceiver, also other hams have had identification turned on and that made the link behave poorly. So, there can be simple reasons for what you are seeing. Also, are these issues related to running the server within windows? Having said that I know that we have had a high development speed and I think we need to better state what a stable system should be using. The version 2 client is coming along nicely but I still don't see it as a stable client as it is lacking things and there are bugs in there. But, it has so far been labeled alpha. To me the stable client to use is 1.5.8. It has been tested quite a lot now and I know it works. I have not had issues with the "Wrong password" but I will try to recreate that issue in bench testing this weekend. I will do a practical demo of pskmail during field day this saturday so I may not have time for testing before next week. I have not seen any discussions where someone has failed to make it work. Would be great to connect with these hams and hear about their issues, can you point me to where you saw that? I think pskmail is a real easy sell, who wants to spend thousands of dollars for an ugly modem when it's not needed... 73 de Per, sm0rwo tis 2012-05-22 klockan 08:55 -0400 skrev Glenn Roeser: > I hope that this email does not upset anyone, and I don't mean to be > rude in any way.
