        As you all know she has had an urostomy for more than 12 years. 
Sunday, August 14th, she said she did not feel well while we were getting 
ready for church and she was going to stay home and for me to go on. I did 
and when I got back home from church, she said you have got to get me to 
the hospital. That was an unusual thing for her to say, so I knew she was 
bad off. I called the EMT's to come get her for two reasons. One I didn't 
know if I could get her in the car, and two you may wait in the ER for 
several hours to get seen, but by ambulance they take you right in. We 
stayed there at the local hospital Sunday and Monday. By Monday I told them 
they had done nothing but give her pain medicine and had no plan of action 
to fix anything. I then told them I wanted her transferred to Mayo Clinic 
in Jacksonville, FL where they had done the urostomy surgery 12 years ago. 
We left by ambulance about 8pm that night and got to Mayo at about 
midnight. The doctor saw her and within 30 
 minutes told us the problem and what they intended to do to fix it. The 
urostomy had a hernia that popped out and blocked the kidneys and intestines. 
At 8am Tuesday morning they had her in surgery and fixed the kidney problem. 
They made two incisions on her back and put tubes into her kidneys to relieve 
the pressure and drain them. (She had not urinated since Sunday morning.) They 
said there was a possibility she might have to go on dialysis if they were 
damaged bad enough. Then Wednesday they took her back to surgery and made a 
large incision down the front of her abdomen and removed the intestinal 
blockage. About 2 inches of her intestines were beginning to die because of the 
trauma and blockage, they removed that and put her intestines back together. 
She was in ICU for about 4 days, then back to a regular room until we came home 
Monday evening. We got home about 10pm because of some test they wanted to do 
before dismissing her. She is back home recovering as well as I think she c
 ould after 2 major surgeries in 2 days. Physical therapist have been her 
Tuesday and today working with her to get back mobile and build her strength 
back and will continue for as long as it takes.

        I just wanted to let you all know about her absence and what had 
gone on. I think I might need therapy after that ordeal, but you got to do 
what you got to do in those situations. And the main thing God was right 
there with us and handled some things that were out of our power to do. I 
know she loves and appreciates all of you as I do also. When she gets able 
I will let her give you more details.
