Thanks Sandra! I really needed this one today. I’m dealing with hurt and
anger from an old and dear friend and another relationship! I’ll be going
before our Father this evening!

Thanks for sharing, Sandra! I am quick to react at times and need to be
calmer....I sometimes let my mouth react before my brain thinks it through.

"In your anger do not sin." Do not let the sun go down while you are still
angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 4:26-27
Anger is an emotion that can cause great harm if we leave it unchecked.
Anger can result in sin that affects us personally and the people around us.
How do we take charge of this emotion and handle it appropriately?
Anger may arise in our hearts because someone has hurt us. The pain ignites
a tiny spark of fire deep within. We may fan the flame by allowing our minds
to dwell on the hurt. As we dredge up past offenses, we add fuel to the
fire. Soon the tiny spark has become a raging fire in our souls looking for
an outlet. We seek retaliation, even wanting to inflict pain on the
attacker. We lash out with our tongues to pay back the offense. As we
sin in our anger, Satan enters the picture.
God has a better plan. Rather than allowing the fire in your heart to spew
from your tongue, take your hurt to the Lord before you speak. Confess your
anger and ask Him to help you to forgive. Forgiveness squelches anger like
throwing cold water on a fire, and through forgiveness God is glorified in
your life.
Dear Lord, help me deal with anger when it first arises in my heart. May I
give You a foothold by choosing forgiveness. Amen
