I think you should change one of the sections in Prisoner of Time to reflect
the problem with the fight against the Villains of Sommerlund near the end of
the book (Section 84). Without the Sommerswerd it is impossible to kill them.
(You lose Ironheart's Broadsword in Section 144)
The simple change would be to give the Scarlet Warrior's Curvy-Bladed sword a
CombatSkill or Endurance multiplier in Section 90 or Section 8.
Section 90:The golden glow fades as the wisdom contained within the Lorestone
is infused into your being. Your spirit soars, but you do not allow your
euphoria to blind you to the danger that is closing on Tolakos. You turn and
run back towards the entrance to the Grand Sepulchre, intending to seek
sanctuary behind its door, but your foot catches on something sharp and sends
you sprawling to the ground. The toe of your left boot is cut through but
fortunately your foot has escaped without a scratch. Cautiously you try to
locate what caused such a vicious cut and discover the scarlet warrior's
curvy-bladed sword.
Section 8:You raise the sword and essay a cut or two to assess its worth. It is
a fine weapon, skilfully crafted by an expert smith. Its hilt is bejewelled
with emeralds and the curvy blade is engraved with a spectacular fiery dragon.
At once you recognize the design and your hopes of retrieving the last
Lorestone are revived. It is identical to the symbol you first saw in the Table
of Visions: the mark that emblazoned the stone gate of Haagadar. You focus your
Kai skills on the blade and they confirm your suspicions. The scarlet warrior
came from Haagadar, and it is to that distant city that his black-winged mount
is now returning with the last Lorestone of the Kai.

Thank you for your interest in Project Aon. We're always pleased to hear from Lone Wolf fans around
the world. I apologise for the long delay in responding to this. Everyone volunteering for Project
Aon has been very busy these past few months, as evidenced by the lack of releases.
While we appreciate the well-written changes you propose, our intention is to publish the original
text of the adventures (with typos and inconsistencies fixed) rather than make wholesale changes to
the gameplay of the books. You may wish to propose these changes as part of an 'alternate rule'
subset in one of the software-readers (e.g. Seventh Sense, or the "Yet Another Gamebook Project")
over on the Project Aon forum: <http://projectaon.proboards.com/index.cgi>
Of course, you could try taking the Sommerswerd with you into the Daziarn. While this makes the
fight against the Chaos-master more difficult, it does give the standard bonus against the Villains
of Sommerlund.
You may be interested to know that in the recent Mongoose Publishing edition of The Prisoners of
Time, in the fight against the Chaos-master with the Ironheart Broadsword (Section 204), his stats
have been reduced to CS:38 EP:54. As this authoritative revision was made under Joe Dever's
supervision, it is appropriate for fans to follow that revision. We will footnote these alternate
combat stats when we next release Book 11. While a reduction of only 2 CS might not seem a lot, it
is a shift of one column to the right on the Combat Results Table.
The combination of this reduction and judicious use of the Laumspur that may be chosen as starting
equipment should therefore enable a player to complete the book, though they will certainly need a
level of luck with their picks from the Random Number Table during combat!
