I had the idea that your populace could fight off the enemies that got too
close to the town.  They get better at fighting via using skill trees, or
upgrading your tech (possible skill tree there as well).  Bats should come
out in swarms and attack the player but take little damage, mostly to server
as a distraction to the trolls that can cause more serious damage to player
and towns
