nope not a host... just a developer for someone else and all the other 34 db's are my own -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of John Greer Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2007 11:08 AM To: programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: sql server 2005 express backups The professional way of doing something like that is by having redundant servers with the drives set in a raid array. That way if one of the servers goes down it can switch to the working server. If you are a web server for professional companies that is what you need to do else you will get yourself in a whole lot of trouble further down the road. I need to know how to set the server up to make automated backups daily and to also clean out the old backups. Is there any way to do something like this? I was told that with express, you were only allowed to make manual backups but not really for sure about this type of thing. I thought at first that I had lost some mission critical databases that could have gotten a company in very deep legal trouble, but I was able to fix it *sweat* and make a backup of the db... Just need to know how to do this a better way than manually (4GB of databases across 35 Dbs is a little time consuming)... Any ideas?
